And after a day at the conference, unwind in the comfort and service of the Louisville Marriott Downtown, featuring plush accommodations, Blue Italian Grille, Champions Sports Bar and Starbucks Café. Located in the heart of downtown, the Louisville Marriott is adjacent to the 4th Street Live! dining and entertainment district and within blocks of many of Louisville’s museums and attractions, such as the Muhammad Ali Center, Slugger Museum, Louisville Glassworks and a short drive to Churchill Downs.

This hotel is usually over $200 per night during August! Our rate is only $152 per night. Students and government employees receive a discounted rate! See policy below.
The hotel offers a state-of-the-art fitness center and indoor pool complimentary to all guests. Each room features an alarm clock, complimentary coffee/tea service, LCD flat-panel television, safe, iron/ ironing board, hairdryer, Bath & Body Works bath products , and daily newspaper. The hotel will offer all conference attendees FREE high-speed internet access in your sleeping room ($12.95 savings per day!). The hotel public areas offer free wireless access.

For hotel dining options, enjoy the Regional Italian classics with a contemporary flare at BLU Italian Grill. Visit the Lobby Lounge for cocktails & snacks. Champions Sports Bar and Grill is a high-energy, sports-themed bar & restaurant in Louisville offering a fun environment and friendly staff. The menu features great bar fare and casual food, including the best burgers, ribs and quesadillas in town. Catch a quick bite or latte on the go from the hotel Starbucks, or order room service and dine in the comfort of your own room. There are also plenty of nearby restaurants within walking distance.

Room Reservations

Room rates at the Sheraton are $152 single/double. There is a $20 charge for each additional person per night (children under 18 are free). Mention you are with the AAV Conference when making your reservation to ensure you receive the discounted room rates. Based upon availability, the discounted rates apply three days before and after the conference dates for reservations made before July 27, 2012, so you may extend your stay and combine the conference with your family vacation. Please note: July 27th is the cut-off date to ensure availability and rates quoted, so make your reservation early. If space fills up as it has in past years, contact the Conference Office for alternate hotels.

Conference Hotel: A small portion of the discounted room rate paid to the conference hotel is rebated to AAV. This rebate is offered to AAV as an incentive for doing business with the hotel and helps defray conference expenses and keep registration fees low. Therefore, all parties benefit when you select the official conference hotel for your lodging.

Discounted Rooms for Students and Government Employees
Student and Government rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Conference Office will make your reservation with the hotel and provide a confirmation number.

Student Policy: A limited number of rooms are available for students at the rate of $110 per quad. To qualify, students must send a copy of their student ID and hotel reservation form to the Conference Office. Government Employee Policy: In order to receive the government rate of $97 per night, you must meet both qualifications: 1) You are a 100% full time government employee (100% of your income comes from the federal government). 2) You must be coming to the conference as a representative of the federal government. This does not include universities, etc. Complete the hotel reservation form and send to the conference office.

Roommate List
If you are interested in sharing a room with another registrant, please call or email the Conference Office to be included on the roommate list. When you call, you will be given 2-3 other names and phone numbers of individuals who are interested in sharing.

Getting to Louisville

Driving Directions
The Marriott is eight miles from the Louisville International Airport. Driving Directions: From Louisville International: Take 264 East one mile to I-65 North. Travel about 6 miles to Brook Street exit. Turn left onto Jefferson. The hotel entrance is immediately to the left on Jefferson Street. To locate additional driving directions, you may wish to visit www.mapquest.com.

Airport Bus/Taxi

  • Transit Authority of River City (TARC) buses service the airport. Free TARC schedules are available at the airport Information Booth. You must have correct change to ride TARC. TARC pick-up is located on the island on the east end of the terminal. Phone (502) 585-1234
  • A taxi is approximately $18 one way.

Parking
Louisville is an easy walking city, but if you are driving, attendees receive a discounted self-parking rate of $12 per day (a savings of $9 per day!) Pick up a passport at the Louisville Visitor’s Center at Fourth and Jefferson streets downtown, and make it a goal to visit every stop along the Urban Bourbon Trail. With any drink or food order, the bar staff will stamp your passport. Visit all of the stops then turn in the passport at the visitor’s center for a T-shirt and a prize. There’s no time limit, so don’t think you have to hit all of these bars in one night!

KENTUCKY MUSEUM OF ART AND CRAFT
